Friends

Just an ordinary day at our friends' house. I treasure these moments when we just hang out, play with and fight about toys. To enjoy each other's company and to share so freely. I feel blessed when I look at these photos.

Around two years ago hehe: They were just bubs!

Hey, there's a new kid on the block!

What We're Reading

I wish I was an avid reader but the truth is that I'm not. Not right now anyway. Still, I love books. I love their artful covers, quality binding, the way they smell (MOST of them), and of course, how much insight and inspiration I get considering how little effort I need to put in.

Looks like Edie has also caught the book bug too!

Baby Dot

Here's the newest and brightest addition to our family - Baby Dot! When I say our family, I mean my extended family. This is my sister's little one. She is sweet and CHUBBY, yeeeah! I'm sorry sweet baby, I wanted to share these earlier. Now she's totally chubbed up and looks nothing like this!

Kel & L

This is my friend Kelly and her daughter L. L and Edie are just a few days apart. Last winter (haha) they came over for a play date. We only spent a few hours together, but watching Kelly and L made a big impact on me. I had never met a mom who was SO good with her child. That day, baby L was not in the best mood and lunch probably wasn't on her list of to dos, but despite the tears and screams, Kelly just, well, loved her daughter with a sense of unconditional love. No matter what L was doing, Kelly was calm and firm. I felt challenged and encouraged with Kelly's kind of love. With action, with instruction, with patience and respect.

P.S. I couldn't believe L could climb up and down the stairs all by herself. I was mesmerized by her physical abilities.
P.P.S. Kelly is a crazy quilter/seamstress/chef. You can check out her website here, (Click!)

Potty Training - The Second Time Around

After the false start that I mentioned here, we continued with potty traing albeit ever so slowly. Here's what potty training looked like after 21 months:

High Low

Sometimes being a parent makes me feel like I have a personality disorder. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Yesterday was a bad day. My body's been tired and Edie's behaviour is tiring me out too. She's still the same sweet girl, but now she is definitely testing her boundaries, and goes the extra mile with me. I understand that it's part of her development so I try not to get angry, but nevertheless it is hard.

Bliss

Today while we were hanging out in her room, she whispered ever so quietly, "I love you", but I couldn't understand her at first. When Kelvin and I finally figured out what she was saying, she changed it to "I love mommy" (in English), and gave me a hug as sweet and hearty as molasses. For almost five minutes, she just kept snuggling with me and saying "I love mommy".

The highs are high. Let me savour them!
